Medical Staff Art Exhibition

The PHC Physicians & Surgeons Society and Medical Staff Inspiring People and Teams Advisory Committee led by Dr. Ana-Luiza Sayao are excited to collaborate with PHC’s new art program “WAW!” (Wellbeing Art Walls) for a unique art exhibition to be held online and in physical spaces in our hospitals from Nov. 27 to Dec 13, 2024.
SUBMISSION INFORMATION
Deadline midnight, Nov. 11, 2024
Who can submit?
- All members of the PHC Medical Staff from all sites (excludes administrative or corporate staff, volunteers or patients).
- All levels of artists from beginner to advanced. No judgment!
What artwork can you submit?
- We welcome all art that inspires wellness, reduces stress, fosters connection, and engages the senses.
- Artwork created by you, or co-created with family members or loved ones.
- Maximum 2 pieces.
What mediums and sizes?
- Medium: Two-dimensional art works that can be hung on a wall, including paintings, drawing, digital art, poetry, photography; or photographic images of 3-dimensional art such as sculpture.
- Size Limits: Minimum: 8” x 10” | Maximum: 24” x 36”
- Weight Limits: Maximum weight of 15-20 lbs (6.8-9 kg)
- Framing: Art should be ready to hang (framed or canvas with hanging wire or clasps). We can provide some limited support to assist.
Where will the works be displayed?
- Wall gallery spaces at MSJ and SPH from Nov. 27 – Dec 9.
- An online gallery starting Nov. 27.
- All artworks that meet the guidelines will be accepted for the online exhibition or walls. (There may be some space limitations to hang all artwork on the walls.)
Guidelines:
- Content should be respectful of the well-being of our medical staff and teams, patients, families, visitors, and community, PHC’s diverse cultural and spiritual values, principles of inclusivity, equity, diversity, and reconciliation, and the sensitivities of the hospital environment.
- Limitations: Please no graphic violence, suffering, or nudity, themes that create negative impacts or discomfort, or marginalization of individuals.
- A curatorial committee will ensure alignment with PHC values and exhibition guidelines, and determine wall gallery selections based on space limitations.
Submission Process:
- Step 1: Submit online information about yourself and your art with a digital photo of your artwork(s).
- Step 2: Drop off your artwork – we will inform you about where and when.
- Step 3: Join an person event (optional) to celebrate and share the artworks. Date to come!
